While spending a lot of time lounging on the sofa these past four weeks (trust me it's not as fun as it sounds) there is one thing that has helped make my time more enjoyable.... HGTV. My family was pretty patient with me until one day they decided enough was enough and rescued the remote I had been holding hostage for more than a week. During my recovery I found great comfort in watching shows like "Spice up your kitchen" where I can watch a kitchen be instantly transformed from ho hum drab to oh so fab in just thirty minutes! There is something very gratifying about watching someone demolish their ugly outdated kitchen adorned with broken appliances that were all the rage when I was a young girl (think avocado green) and welcome it into the 21st century. Hello double ovens and sub zero's larger than my first house:)
Another fun show is "Design on a dime" where they spend a thousand dollars to recreate someones boring and messy space. Even though they work within such a tight budget the outcome is always so much nicer than it was before, and it turns out surprisingly well considering the limited funds:) Talk about thinking outside the box... they get pretty creative!
My favorite show on this awesome network is Divine Design with Candice Olsen, I Love her, I want to be her, I want to work for her! Too bad she lives in Canada:(
I could watch her work her magic all day long, designing, decorating, waving her magic wand and voila... gone are the 80's green & pink florals and stripes along with the lovely forest green carpet, and in it's place... an eye boggling, mind blowing room that is so hip & modern & fresh with just the right touch of sparkle:) I LOVE it!
These aren't my favorite rooms of hers but they are all I could find, and as you can seen they're not too shabby!
