My church calling has been keeping me busy these past few weeks. I am in the Relief Society Presidency and the homemaking committee and I have been planning our Relief Society Summer Social that is on June 18th. I really hope it turns out as well as the one we did last year. This is how it went down...
Last year our Summer Social was in Gayle Howes beautiful backyard and the weather was perfect! For dinner we served Chinese Chicken Salad, Rolls and a fruit kabob.
The theme was "My Favorite Things." We sent out invitations that invited everyone to bring their favorite thing to show and tell. They were to show us what it was, tell us a little bit about it, why they love it, and where we can get it.
It was similar to what Oprah does on her show except our audience didn't go home with a mac computer, cashmere sweaters or a five hundred dollar designer handbag..... dang it!
Since the night was centered around a "few of our favorite things" we decided to have a little fun with it. Here are a few examples...
Invitation drawn by my cute niece Emily
Yummy dinner (Schnitzel with noodles!) Some people in my ward get me confused with my friend Cari. She is the girl on the far left. I have been told that I did a really good job bearing my testimoney, and I have also been thanked for the yummy pie that I baked. It's pretty funny, especially because I just smile and say thanks!

The note says, These are a few of our favorite things....

Jaime demonstrating her favorite thing....The Hooter Hider! ha ha ha :)
It turned out to be a really fun night. Not only was it informational but it was very entertaining as well!
Below are the words to the song that the girls in white dresses performed. Every time you see the word CHOCOLATE it was one of the girls shouting it out mid song. This little off broadway number was so darling and funny! Bet you can't read it without singing along.
Girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes. Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes. Silver white winters that melt into spring, these are a few of my favorite things.
oom pah pah, oom pah pah.
Quilting and cooking, CHOCOLATE, golfing and reading. Learning a language and family historying. Brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things.
oom pah pah oom pah pah.
Gardening, CHOCOLATE, shopping, scrapbooking and lunching. Photography, traveling, CHOCOLATE, hiking and biking. Brown paper packages tied up with string, family and friends will complete the whole thing!
When the kids fight! when the gas spikes! when I'm feeling sad...I simply get into my very own car and then I just drive like mad!
I simply start eating my favorite things... CHOCOLATE... and then I don't feel so bad!
We simply make time for our favorite things, and then we don't feel so bad.
You sang didn't ya?
